How to reset or factory restore Xiaomi Mi 9X device?
There are two common ways to reset or factory restore a Xiaomi Mi 9X device, both of which are recommended.
Method 1: Using System UI Recovery
1. Ensuring the device is backed up: Before proceeding with the reset process, it is important to ensure that all personal data and other important information on the device is backed up to prevent data loss during the reset process.
2. Charging the device: The course of a reset may vary depending on the battery level. Hence, it is recommended to charge the device's battery to at least 30-50% before commencing the reset process.
3. Powering off the device: Turn off the device completely, and do not use any of the power buttons to turn it back on.
4. Using the Volume Down and Power button: Press and hold the Volume down button and the Power button simultaneously for about 8-10 seconds, or until the Mi Recovery logo appears on the screen. Release both buttons once logged into recovery mode.
5. Navigating through recovery mode: Use the Volume down and Power button to navigate through the recovery mode menu.
6. Selecting the "Data Wipe/Factory Reset" option: Once the recovery mode menu is on the screen, use the Volume down and Power button to navigate to "Data Wipe/Factory Reset" and select it.
7. Confirming the reset process: Once the "Yes, Delete all user data/Yes, Delete all data/Yes -- Yes" prompt appears on the screen, select "Yes" to confirm the reset process.
8. Waiting for the reset process to progress: After selecting "Yes", the Mi 9X will begin the reset process, which may take up to 10-15 minutes. The device will boot into the Mi Recovery logo after the reset process is complete.
9. Once the device boots up: The device will boot up into the aX wondering mode after the reset process is complete. On the boot up screen, select "Not Now" to skip the quick start guide. After a while, the device will run a system update to install the latest software. After the device reboots, you can set it up like a new device and restore your backed-up data.
Method 2: Using the "Mi Recovery" App
1. Downloading the "Mi Recovery" app: Visit an official Xiaomi Mi Download Center on a computer, and download the Mi Recovery app.
2. Backing up personal data: Before proceeding with the reset process, ensure that all personal data and other important information on the device is backed up to prevent data loss during the reset process.
3. Charging the device: Charge the device to at least 30-50% before starting the reset process, as the course of the reset may vary depending on the battery level.
4. Installing Mi Recovery app on the Mi 9X: Install the Mi Recovery app on the Xiaomi Mi 9X device by connecting the device to the computer using a USB cable, and transferring the downloaded file to the device. Open the Mi Transfer app, and transfer the MI Recovery app to the Mi 9X.
5. Running the Mi Recovery app: Open the Mi Transfer app on the device, and double-click on the MI Recovery app to start it.
6. Relocating the Mi Recovery app: To remove the Mi Recovery app from the device after the reset process is complete, go to "Settings" > "Security" > "Apps" > "Mi Recovery" > "Delete".
