What is the transfer of a Motor Vehicle?

Transfer of a motor vehicle is the process of changing the ownership of a vehicle from one person to another. 

Requirements for Transfer of Motor Vehicle

  • Original logbook
  • Filled and signed KRA Form C
  • Copies of National ID or Passport of the seller and buyer
  • PIN certificates for both the seller and buyer
  • Valid insurance cover
  • Sales contract
  • Declaration of death (if the previous owner is deceased)

Cost for applying for Transfer of Motor Vehicle

The cost for applying for Transfer of Motor Vehicle in Kenya varies depending on the engine capacity of the vehicle. For vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 1,500cc, the transfer fee is Ksh. 1,000. For vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 1,500cc, the transfer fee is Ksh. 2,000.   • A trailer less than four wheels: Ksh 1030/=
