Requirements for Motor Vehicle Change of Particulars
- Original logbook: The original logbook of the vehicle is a document that proves ownership of the vehicle.The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issues the document, which includes the vehicle’s registration number, make, model, year of manufacture, engine number, chassis number, and the name of the registered owner.
- Filled and signed KRA Form C: KRA Form C is a tax clearance certificate issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). It proves that the vehicle has paid all taxes due to the government.
- Copies of National ID or Passport of the seller and buyer: The seller and buyer must provide copies of their National ID or Passport to confirm their identity.
- PIN certificates for both the seller and buyer: The seller and buyer must provide their PIN certificates to confirm their tax compliance.
- Valid insurance cover: The vehicle must have valid insurance cover to be roadworthy.
- Sales contract: The sales contract is a document that outlines the terms of the sale of the vehicle. It should include the purchase price, the date of sale, and the details of the vehicle being sold.
- The buyer must provide a declaration of death from the relevant authorities if the previous owner of the vehicle is deceased.
- Affidavit of change of motor vehicle engine: If the engine of the vehicle is being changed, the owner must provide an affidavit stating the reason for the change.
- Copy of ID/ Certificate of incorporation /Business Registration Certificate: If the vehicle is owned by a company, the company must provide a copy of its registration certificate.
- Payment of applicable fees: The applicant must pay the applicable fees to the NTSA.
