What is a Duplicate Logbook?
A duplicate logbook is a document that is issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in Kenya to replace a lost or damaged logbook. The duplicate logbook contains the same information as the original logbook, including the vehicle’s registration number, make, model, year of manufacture, engine number, chassis number, and the name of the registered owner.
Requirements for a Duplicate Logbook
- Report the loss or damage of your logbook to the police and obtain a police abstract.
- Visit the NTSA office in your area and fill out an application form.
- Provide the following documents:
- Copy of your National ID or passport
- Copy of the police abstract
- Copy of the original logbook (if available)
- Payment of the applicable fees

- Go to the NTSA website and sign in to your account. If you don’t have an account, you can create one .
- Click on the “Motor Vehicle Registration” tab.
- Click on the “Apply for Duplicate Logbook” link.
- Enter the vehicle’s registration number.
- Select the reason for applying for a duplicate logbook.
- Fill in the required details.
- Upload the police abstract, tape lift report, and sworn affidavit as one document.
- Pay the required fee.
- Submit your application.
