What is a CR12 Certificate?

A CR12 is a Certificate of Good Standing that is issued by the Registrar of Companies in Kenya. It provides information on the current status of a company, including its name, registration number, date of incorporation, registered office, and directors. 

Requirements for a CR12 Certificate Application in Kenya 

  • Company Letterhead: You will need to write a request to the Company Registry to request for the CR 12 Kenya company checkup. The letter must contain your company logo, address and it needs to be signed.
  • Certificate of Incorporation: A copy of the company’s Certificate of Incorporation is required.
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association: A copy of the company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association is required.
  • Latest Annual Returns (if any): If the company has filed annual returns, a copy of the latest annual returns is required.
  • Company email address: The company’s email address is required.
  • Company telephone number: The company’s telephone number is required.
  • Company postal address: The company’s postal address is required.

How to Apply for a CR12 Certificate 

  1. Go to the eCitizen website and create an account.
  2. Log in to your account and go to the “Business Registration Service” section.
  3. Click on “Make Application” and select “Official Search (CR 12)” from the list of options.
  4. Enter the company name or registration number and click on “Search”.
  5. Select the company you want to get a CR12 for and click on “Next”.
  6. Enter your postal address, postal code, email address, and mobile number.
  7. Tick the box to confirm that you have provided the required information and click on “Finish”.
  8. Pay the application fee of KES 650 using Mpesa or a credit card.
  9. You will receive an email with a link to download your CR12.

The cost for applying for a CR12 is KES 650. This fee is payable through Mpesa or a credit card on your ecitizen account. And an additional cyber fee of only KES 200 at nikonet.
