How to reset or factory restore Samsung C500 device?
If you wish to reset your Samsung C500 device, you can choose from two official methods. The first method involves resetting through the settings menu, while the second method involves using a Samsung proprietary firmware that's being downloaded and then flashed onto your tablet.
Method 1: Reset through settings menu
Step 1: Go to Settings
All settings are accessible through the home screen by swiping down twice and selecting 'Settings' from the menu.
Step 2: Select 'Backup and reset'
Once you're in settings, scroll down to select 'Backup and reset' and to be exact, in tiny letters on the last line it'll say, 'Factory data reset'.
Step 3: Select 'Reset device'
On the next screen, you'll be prompted to 'Reset device' or 'Reset data/factory data reset'. You'll not be able to recover your data if you go for 'Reset data'. Select 'Reset device' to proceed.
Step 4: Enter PIN, password, or pattern (depend upon security option set)
If you have set a password or pattern for screen lock, you'll be prompted to enter it. Select 'Cancel' if you don't remember it.
Step 5: Wait for the process to complete
After entering the PIN, password or pattern, the device will initiate the reset process. Don't press any buttons or try to turn off the device during this period. The process may take up to about 8 minutes to complete. Once it's done, you'll find your device back to its factory settings.
Method 2: Reset using Proprietary Firmware
Step 1: Download firmware
Go to samsung.com/us/support/downloads, then navigate to "Android" and select "C500". Here you'll find the firmware for your tablet.
Step 2: Create a backup (if applicable)
If you wish to keep saved data, take Backup using any application. Note that you won't be able to restore data after a factory reset.
Step 3: Flash firmware
Once the firmware is downloaded, use any suitable tool like Odin or Samsung Smart Switch to flash the firmware onto your tablet. Follow the instructions provided with the tool carefully.
Step 4: Reset device through recovery mode
After flashing the firmware, restart your device and enter recovery mode by pressing and holding the 'Home' and 'Volume Down' buttons simultaneously until the 'Samsung logo' appears.
Step 5: Select 'Wipe data/factory data reset'
Use the Volume buttons to navigate to 'Wipe data/factory data reset' and press the 'Home' button to select.
