How to reset or factory restore Motorola MPx200 device?
The most common and recommended ways to reset or factory restore a Motorola MPx200 device are taught in the following methods:
Hard Reset - This is also known as a EROM Restore or a Reset to Defaults.
1. Turn off your phone completely by pressing and holding the power button until the screen goes black.
2. Press and hold the power button again until the phone enters Bootloader mode.
3. In Bootloader mode, use the Volume Up and Volume Down keys to navigate until you find the Reset (EROM) option and press the Power button to select it.
4. The phone will enter the Reset menu where you will be asked if you want to Reset to EROM or Reset to Defaults, you can select any of both options based on your requirement.
5. If you choose to restore your device from EROM, you will be asked to insert a compatible recovery kit into your phone using the MDDโE2E cable. Once connected, the phone will boot into the recovery menu where you can choose to restore the phone's firmware.
Finally, for the Reset to Defaults option; the phone will reset itself to its default settings, erasing all data and applications installed on the phone.
This process will restore the device to its factory settings and should usually take around 5-10 minutes.
Soft Reset ( wiping cache) - this is another method that involves wiping the cache partition of the device.
1. Turn off your phone completely by pressing and holding the power button until the screen goes black.
2. Press and hold the power button again until the phone enters Bootloader mode.
3. In Bootloader mode, use the Volume Down button to highlight the Reboot System in Bootloader option.
4. Once the Reboot System in Bootloader option is highlighted enter Recovery Mode, press the Power Button.
5. Once the phone boots into recovery mode you should see an option as "Clear Cache Partition," select that.
6. After selecting it, the phone will warn you that all user data will be cleared, including applications and settings. Confirm that you want to proceed with the clear cache partition option.
7. The device will reset, restoring your phone's default settings.
This process will clear the cache partition which will resolve many issues caused by a corrupted cache. However, all user data will be erased, including applications and settings.
It is recommended that you backup your data before performing any resets or restore methods. Having a backup will prevent important data loss.
Note: Hard Reset and Soft Reset are the most common and recommended methods of resets or restore methods. Sometimes, the device may take a bit of time to restore the phone to default settings, especially if the phone is running low on battery, or if there are many apps installed on the phone.
