How to reset or factory restore Huawei P20 Pro device?
Resetting or factory restoring a Huawei P20 Pro device is a useful solution to deal with slow performance, software glitches or if you accidentally locked yourself out of your device. There are multiple ways to perform a factory reset on a Huawei P20 Pro depending on your preference and need. However, we recommend using the official Huawei restoration method as it ensures a complete and safe restoration of your device. Here are the common and recommended ways to reset a Huawei P20 Pro device:
1. Using the official Huawei HiCare App:
The easiest way to factory reset your Huawei P20 Pro device is to use the official Huawei HiCare app on your PC or Mac. Follow the steps below:
a. Download and install the Huawei HiCare app from the official Huawei website on your PC or Mac.
b. Configure the app by signing into your Huawei ID, and connect your Huawei P20 Pro device to your PC or Mac using a USB cable.
c. Once connected, select the "Backup" option on the app's main screen, and then select "Factory Data Reset".
d. You will be prompted to enter your PIN, so enter your PIN and then click on "Confirm".
e. The app will start to download the latest firmware for your device, and once the download is complete, it will begin the restore process.
f. Once the restore process is complete, you will be prompted to restart your device. Once your device has restarted, you will be prompted to set up your device from scratch.
2. Using Huawei G-Force:
Another recommended method to reset your Huawei P20 Pro device is to use the Huawei G-Force 3.1 tool on your PC. However, before using this tool, make sure you have the appropriate SSL certificate installed and are using the latest version of G-Force 3.1 tool. Follow these steps:
a. Download the latest version of Huawei G-Force 3.1 tool from the Huawei website and install it on your PC.
b. Connect your Huawei P20 Pro device to your PC using a USB cable.
c. Run Huawei G-Force 3.1 tool and select the "Backup" option.
d. You will be prompted to enter your device password, so enter your password and then click on "Next".

The Coronet method (also known as the Seven Button Reset) is another method to reset your Huawei P20 Pro device without using a PC. However, this method is not official and can be risky, so use it at your own risk.
a. Power off your Huawei P20 Pro device.
b. Hold and press the following buttons simultaneously: the Volume down button, the Home button, and the Camera button.

Please note that this method may cause data loss, and we do not recommend using it unless you have no other option. Moreover, it is not official and may void your device's warranty. Therefore, we recommend using the official Huawei restore methods, provided as previously mentioned.
