What is a Helb loan?

Helb Loan Application:HELB (Higher Education Loans Board) is a government agency in Kenya that provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in both public and private universities or colleges. 

Requirements 

  1. Be a Kenyan citizen with a valid national ID card or passport.
  2. Be enrolled in a recognized institution of higher learning in Kenya, either a public or a private university or college.
  3. Have a valid admission letter from the institution you are enrolled in.
  4. Have a Kenyan bank account in your name where the loan disbursement will be credited.
  5. Provide a guarantor who will sign the loan application form and be responsible for the loan in case you are unable to repay it.

How to apply 

  1. Visit the HELB website (https://www.helb.co.ke/) here at nikonet cyber and create an account if you don’t have one already. You will need to provide your personal details such as your name, ID number, email address, and phone number to register.
  2. Once you have created an account, login and navigate to the loan application section. Choose the loan product that you want to apply for (e.g., undergraduate loan, postgraduate loan, TVET loan) and click on the “apply” button.
  3. Fill in the loan application form with accurate and complete information. You will need to provide your personal details, academic information, financial information, and other relevant details.
  4. Upload any required documents, such as your admission letter, ID card, bank statement, and other supporting documents. Make sure to scan or take clear photos of these documents and upload them in the required format and size.
  5. Provide the details of your guarantor, who will sign the loan application form and be responsible for the loan in case you are unable to repay it.
  6. Review the loan application form and ensure that all the information is accurate and complete. Then submit the application form online.
  7. After submitting the loan application form, you will receive a notification from HELB confirming receipt of your application. The loan application will be processed, and you will be informed of the outcome in due course.
