How to apply for a driving license

  1. Visit the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) TIMS (Transport Integrated Management System) portal at https://tims.ntsa.go.ke/.
  2. Create an account on the TIMS portal by providing your personal details, including your full name, ID number, and email address. You will also need to create a password.
  3. Log in to your TIMS account and select the “Driving License” tab from the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
  4. Select “Apply for New Driving License” from the options provided.
  5. Fill out the online application form with your personal details and attach any required documents, such as your National ID and medical examination report.
  6. Pay the appropriate fees using a debit or credit card or through mobile money platforms such as M-Pesa.
  7. Schedule an appointment for your driving test by selecting a date and time that works for you.
  8. Attend your scheduled driving test at a designated testing center.  You will need to bring your application confirmation, National ID, and other required documents.
  9. If you pass the driving test, the authorities will print and issue your driving license to you
