How to reset or factory restore BlackBerry Evolve X device?
There are three common ways to reset or factory restore a BlackBerry Evolve X device, which are:
1. Using the Backup Assistant:
a. Turn off the device.
b. Press and hold the Volume Up button, the Back button, and the Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
c. Release all buttons.
d. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 5 seconds.
e. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
f. Release all buttons.
g. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 10 seconds.
h. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
i. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Up button for 10 seconds.
j. Connect the device to a computer and launch the BlackBerry Backup Assistant.
k. Select the good link option and choose Backup or Restore option according to the present situation.
2. Using the recovery mode:
a. Turn off the device.
b. Press and hold the Volume Up button, the Back button, and the Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
c. Release all buttons.
d. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 5 seconds.
e. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
f. Release all buttons.
g. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 10 seconds.
h. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
i. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Up button for 10 seconds.
j. Connect the device to a computer and make sure the device is recognized.
k. Choose to switch to the computer screen and choose the recovery mode.
l. Choose to wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action.
3. Using the command line:
a. Turn off the device.
b. Press and hold the Volume Up button, the Back button, and the Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
c. Release all buttons.
d. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 5 seconds.
e. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
f. Release all buttons.
g. Press and hold the Volume Up button only for 10 seconds.
h. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
i. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Up button for 10 seconds.
j. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
k. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Up button for 10 seconds.
l. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
m. Release the button and then press and hold the Volume Up button for 10 seconds.
n. Connect the device to a computer and ensure that the device is recognized.
o. Open the command prompter or terminal window.
p. Change to the device directory by typing "cd /inst" or "/dev/inst" on Windows or "/usb/inst" on Mac.
q. Verify the device connection by typing "lsusb" or "ls -l /dev/class/net/usb_modem*" and look for the device name.
r. Enter "fastboot oem unlock" and press Enter.
s. Wait for the device to reboot.
t. Enter "fastboot flash" sqp and select the ROM image file.
u. Restart the device and perform the factory reset or recovery.
It is recommended to always back up your data before performing a factory reset or recovery, as you may lose all your data permanently.
